Gavin is the current CDO for Yum! Brands. Gavin brings executable digital strategies to help traditional business, such as Yum!, to overcome challenges and opportunities, combining mobile, web, ecommerce, social and big data.
Prior to Yum!, Gavin was a Partner with the Strategy & Ops team at Monitor Deloitte and headed up the DeloitteDigital.com practice for the Greater China region.
Gavin is a multi-channel retail strategy expert. Gavin is frequently engaged to speak at technology conferences and has published numerous thought leadership papers on the digital retailing, data centers and multi-channel strategy.
At Deloitte, Gavin led over 100+ business advisory engagements in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. Gavin’s expertise includes digital strategy, corporate strategy, US-Sino-SEAsia route-to-market strategy, enterprise application architecture and business process re-design.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Gavin was a director at Frost & Sullivan and headed up the Hong Kong office. Gavin also led a team of application developers at HP re-designing the enterprise systems for Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Education.
Gavin holds a BSc in Computer Science from Purdue University (Dean’s List), an MBA from INSEAD, and an EMBA from Tsinghua University.
Gavin was funded by Microsoft’s TabletPC division in 2003 to research on interactivity between RFID, GPS, Active Map applications and the TabletPC. This was considered to be highly cutting-edge and massively disruptive as Google Maps and iPhones were not in existence at this point. Gavin holds Patents in 7 countries for his advertising system product design. Gavin started a company that was VC-funded in 2004 and he sold his company in 2006.
Gavin is also fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, Bahasa Indonesian and English.
